Jenny Torrence, owner of Serendipity, Pinkadilly and Noto Burrito, is one of the driving forces behind the growth in the NOTO Arts District. After rising to top management in two direct selling professions, Jenny made the jump to brick and mortar business to see how she could impact her own community and began to build her three diverse businesses back in 2011. From bartending and burrito building to wedding planning and retail merchandising, Jenny has had to put her business degree from Washburn University to use taking on the challenges of owning small businesses.
Jenny’s true passion in a world of internet shopping and chain retailers is seeing the importance of those small mom and pop businesses in a community. Bringing awareness to local business, and educating people on how their support truly affects lives and helps to make their community more diverse and colorful. Jenny serves on the NOTO Arts District board of directors, along with giving of her time to the Topeka Chamber of Commerce board of directors and serving on the small business advisory council. One of her biggest accomplishments was being recognized by GoTopeka as the “Small Business Advocate” for 2017. Jenny is also serving on the Visit Topeka board of directors for the next 3 years. She has a love of her community and does what she can to be a champion of topeka.
Tapping into Jenny’s sparkle...
The sparkle probably began when Jenny was introduced into the pink world of Mary Kay cosmetics and the core teachings of Mary Kay Ash herself. Jenny learned early on where a lil sass, humor and wit can take a gal and how she too could make an impact on others by taking a moment to make people feel special.
Sales, leadership, mentoring and developing successful teams around her has always been her strength as shown by her top teams in both Mary Kay Cosmetics then followed with Passion Parties. Then her focus shifted onto the NOTO Arts and Entertainment District and her brick and mortar businesses and her local community of Topeka, seeing where her energy could be used. Those that have had the chance to work with Jenny learn to see the world thru her rose colored glasses, and know her glass is always half full and there is little room for complaining.
Jenny has the ability to captivate an audience with her humor and her no non-sense personality whether it be as a guest keynote speaker or sharing part of her leadership training, a little sparkle of Jenny will be imprinted on those she meets and they will be looking forward to the next time.
