Oh what a whirlwind!

Holy shamoly...what a whirlwind of a couple days while enjoying London.  We flew from Dortmund, Germany to London and took a car service into the city.
We chose to fly Ryanair this leg because they are dirt cheap. Now when I say dirt cheap I mean it, but there are some trade offs!  If you are one that complains of southwest being a cattle call you haven't seen anything!  Not only do they sell scratch off tickets to win things during your flight, they also sell everything under the sun during this short hour flight. And you had better make sure the app is loaded on your phone and you have your boarding pass correct or you will have to pay for a boarding pass no exceptions...basically $18 per boarding pass. Can you tell we may of had to pay??

We booked a flat in the middle of London thru a booking site called holidaylettings.com.  I am a researcher when I travel. I research absolutely everything. I'm frugal, and detailed and most importantly picky.  There are a few things that are important to me when I travel that I have realized as I age that really are deal breakers.  Although I am cheap...I want to stay a place I can actually enjoy while in the room and has a great location....if I'm thirsty and want a coke, I will grab one from the mini bar, and if on vacation time is sometimes money!  (For me who works a lot, I try to make the most of my travels...) so I am always willing to take a cab if saves me time to get from point a to point b.

This flat after probably 40 hours of research was absolutely perfect. I will plan to stay there each time I return. It was wonderful!  It was a 5 minute walk from Covent Gardens which is one of my most favorite places in London. It has my favorite pizza place across the street, one of my top shops around the corner and a Starbucks (not my community so convenance is key) across the street.  The flat had a back patio with the glass doors that open up the entire back portion (which I am dying to do to my home because there is nothing that makes me happier than a breeze...), full kitchen, laundry machine and was gorgeous!   Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Of course we ventured and walked around and hit some of my favorite places, but the entire trip was planned around portobello market. Oh how it makes me so happy. If you have been to London and never checked it out, it is a must!  We spent all morning and part of afternoon enjoying the street long market.  Had a fantastic lunch at a local burger joint and shopped until our hearts were content. We hit Harrods, a few more must stops and picked up Pizza Express and spent the evening in the flat.  It was wonderful.  We have been going and going and our day will filled to the brim and it was nice to just chill.

Today we have picked up a rental car and are off again!  This time we have an Audi so much quicker on the highway but the driving on the wrong side of the road on the wrong side of the car is definitely something that you have to make a conscious effort while doing!  I started off the day feeling extremely bad, my stomach has just been killing me so bless Shannon's heart...as soon as I got outside London's city limits she jump behind the wheel, first time ever in UK and we headed to Sandwich, England.  She did fantastic and allowed me to sleep in the car for a bit because feeling so bad. Poor thing had to navigate, drive and learn wrong side all at same time. She did it!  We made it to Sandwich, I felt much better and we explored a bit there and took her to a proper place for fish and chips.

We then headed to see the white cliffs of Dover which was neat because she had no clue what it was or about. She slept on our drive between the two so allowed her to truly be just faced with its beauty as we peaked the top of our climb on foot. It was amazing...just breathtaking. I will admit...I do believe it is more beautiful when seeing it from the water (a ship of some sort) but still pretty amazing on land.

We then loaded up, tooled around Dover exploring while we had daylight and then we have hit the road to Bath, England. Shannon is driving final leg of drive so I can blog away in the other seat.

We plan to go to the Roman baths tomorrow and also do their spa. So excited to be able to soak in the healing waters. (Maybe will help my stomach pains!  😜). Then we will head for the Cotswolds and explore the English countryside.

We are having an absolute blast. Wouldn't change a single thing so far and are looking forward to the next week!

Thanks for following along on our journey. We look forward to sharing our crazy adventures each day and hopefully getting to enjoy the journey along the way.

Xoxo
